-Mushroom (A quick boost.)

-Three Mushrooms (Three regular mushrooms.)

-Starman (Invincibility for a short time, also boosts speed.)

-Lightning Bolt (Shrinks every player except yourself, and now makes victims spin out and lose all of their items.)

-Green Shell (Fires in a straight line and will not stop it's track until it collides with someone or something.)

-Red Shell (Shoot this homing shell to someone in front of you to make them spin-out. Be careful when using these around walled corners, it will most likely hit the wall before a target.)

-Banana Peel (Drop or throw this banana peel to make anyone to come intact with it to spin out.)

-Blue Spiney Shell (Finds the first place driver by flying into the air and dive bombing to create a giant explosion that can make drivers who are in close range to spin out. The first place driver will fly into the air from the collision.)

-Fake Item Block (A discolored fake item block that causes a spin-out if collided with a driver.)

 

Mario and Luigi: Mario and Luigi have red and green fireballs that both have different effects. The red fireballs bounce in a zig-zag direction and the green follow in a straight line until they collide with another driver.

Peach and Daisy: Peach and Daisy both have protective hearts to absorb items. Let's say a red shell is fired at Daisy and she has the protective heart equipped. This means the red shell is absorbed and now it's in Daisy's inventory!

Yoshi and Birdo: Yoshi and Birdo have a green egg and pink egg special. When they are thrown at another competitor or at the track, three normal (or on a rare occassion, special items) are layed upon the track.

DK and Diddy: These naughty apes both carry a giant banana peel in their inventory. It acts as a normal banana peel, but it's much larger in size.

Bowser and Bowser Jr.: The koopa duo carry the giant spiked shell, which takes over almost the size of the track in space itself! It can be fired forward or backward and it causes mass destruction.

Wario and Waluigi: Wario and Waluigi behold the Bob-Omb. It can be thrown at another driver or layed upon the track. Make sure to not get caught in it's detonation!

Baby Mario and Baby Luigi: The babies can unleash the Chain Chomp. This acts kind of like the Starman in it's own way. It pulls you forward at a faster speed and can demolish other drivers that get in harm's way. It's however hard to handle!

Troopa and Paratroopa: The two yellow turtles can equip three green or red regular shells. These are the only two characters who can use three green or red shells.
